Smithing Class

Do any of you guys know where i can find a decent smith class published by wizards? I've looked throught most of the source books without prevail, so i figure maybe someone could tell me. My friend wants to play a magic weapon creator blacksmith type person, so i wanted to see if i could find one. Thanks in advance for all those who help! ^_^

PS:God i love D&D!

Wizard. With lots of ranks in the appropriate Craft skill(s).

Seriously.

That, or Expert/Wizard multiclass, but multiclassing Wizard with anything but a PrC is asking to be made to suffer.

Check out S&S's "Book of Eldritch Might III - The Nexus." There are some cool feats developed by an NPC ettin sorcerer that allow him to fuse magical items into his body and grant life (actually give intelligence) to inanimate (magical) objects, plus a number of spells that give good juice to magic stuff. Granted, you need to be a spellcaster to do some of that stuff.

More classes to check out are the Runecaster from FRCS, and the Psion (Shaper) from the PsiHB, stacking him up with some psionic item creation feats.

An oddball class to check out is the Gnome Artificer in FR Magic of Faerûn. YMMV.

I'm sure others will have thoughts, too.

A Cleric with the Craft and Metal domains could also make a good D&D smith, although a Cleric with the Spell domain would have easier access to arcane spells.

The Techsmith from Faiths & Pantheons is a PrC for spellcasting worshippers of Gond. It's primarily focused on constructs, though, and firearms, not weaponsmithing.

The Master Smith PrC in Magic of Rokugan is really a much better match for what you're looking for, but it's not a Wizards book.

Master Smith PClass

Hi there

You may want to take a look at Forged in Magic by Paradigm Concepts (www.paradigmconcets.com)

There is a master smith PClass in the back that does not require spell casting ability (but you gain Use Magic Device as a class skill)

There are also a TON of kickass magic items in the book with tons of story to each one, if you don’t play Arcanis (which you should take a look at if you don't.. sweet world) you can easily tweak the items history to fit any campaign with little work.

Master Smith in the Magic of Rokugan book.

Very nice class, imo - one of my PCs is playing a somewhat modified version for her dwarven warrior in my campaign. Changes were, bumped the BA from 3/4ths to Full, removed the Ancestral Daisho requirement, changed the knowledge/elements to knowledge/arcana or religeon, and swapped out the scaling 'better and better steel' thing, which is kinda rokugan speciffic, for the ability to make the equavelant of exotic materials out of more commonly available things. Alloys that have the same effects and costs of mithril and adamantite at the later levels.
