Smokeless fire?

RUMBLETiGER

Adventurer
I recall a spell, I believe it was a low level Druid spell, in 3.x, that magically made fire smoke go away. It could have been a magic item.

However, now that I'm really looking for it, I cannot find it.

Does this exist or is my brain fuzzy?

Your brain is fuzzy. There are tonnes of effects that can remove smoke, its not a hard thing to do. Compound that with the many low level spells that create light and heat, and the spell would be moot.

What I want is to create forges, warmth fireplaces and cooking stoves that give off no smoke, therefore not giving away the location of a cavernous fortress hidden within a cliff.

Well, with enough engineering it would be possible to create a ventilation system that would scrub the air and result in a smokeless exhaust...

You'd just need a permenancied Gust of Wind, some tubing, and a Decanter of Endless Water.

Most excellent. I can definitely work with this.

Illusion spells could work to cloak the chimney or exhaust vent as well, so that the smoke is hidden from view.

A permanent illusion might cover the chimney vent to some extent, but I'll also need to obscure the scent. The smell of food cooking, metal smithed, wood burning, would likely draw attention of creatures and humanoids, resulting in investigation and locating said hidden cavernous fortress.

Ah, that makes sense. You obviously think of a lot more details than I do. LOL.
