Snacks anyone?

We just have people fend for themselves. Sometimes they'll team up and go in on things. Sometimes someone will make a store room and take orders, but everyone pays for their own stuff.

Your job as a DM is to provide a good game. Their jobs as metabolic animals are to stay fed. ...and hopefully enjoy said game :)

Very often we kick in for pizza or chinese food- something that can be delivered- if we're going to be playing a long game.

Snacks- well, we all try to bring what we can, when we can. In the old days we had a jar we'd all kick into for snacks. Nowadays, Craig usually brings chips and Bill usually brings beer, and other bring whatever they want whenever they can.

We don't have a system but it still seems to work out relatively fairly, but we're all a bunch of giving people.

I now have a new player that brings homemade baked goods or some snack every session without being asked. We really appreciate it.

My game kind of rotates everywhere, as often at my house as someone elses. Generally who ever hosts provides food. So if they clean me out one day they can be sure that there's will come in return :D .

I'm considering starting a pizza fund or the like. Sounds good.

Oh consider getting everyone to pitch in for a party sub there like 6 feet long. That could be fun...

Not to be off-topic, but I have a supers brick named Iron Fist. During the sessions, he would drink and eat alot, so the other supers call him Big Snacks. And now its shortened to Snacks.

I thought it was funny. :)

The DM and I always host the game. We provide coffee/tea, veggie sticks and popcorn. Sometimes we order pizza and anybody without cash gets covered. Occasionally I'll make chili, spaghetti or some other no-fuss meal.

The other players usually bring the pop and some chips. One guy even bakes banana bread or cheese muffins just in time for the game.

Any extra bottles of pop or bags of chips just get recycled the following weekend.

As DM and hostess, I feel like I've done enough, what with game prep and providing the location. The players are welcome to drink anything we have on hand, but I don't go out and purchase special stuff. Same with food. We always have a supply of pistachios, so I usually put out a bowl of those, but if the players want something else, they can bring it. Since they don't, I assume they don't want to eat much during the game. I don't generally snack while we play, because I'm busy running the game.

Our system

Our current groups pretty much does an every man for himself for the most part although the DM who is also the host, often provides us with goodies.

I personally think that players should show up with 5 bucks for ordering pizza and bring drinks or chips or whatever and the DM should eat for free.

The DM spends alot of time preparing and running a game so that a bunch of yahoos can sit around and play not having spent any time worrying or prepping before hand - so i think DMs should get a free ride on the food :)

Thats my opinion, but my new group doesnt do it that way.

Back in the day we used to have a system of 'every man for himself', but now since three of the group work at the same pizza place (used to be four, but I quit to go try and be a video game developer :D), every other week we bring pizza or subs. But we always bring two gallons of their sweetened iced tea. Its almost to the point where we can't game without it. :)

The off weeks when food isn't provided, we mostly starve. :( And drink tea. Lots of tea...

Which begets many brief player disappearances... ;)

Most of our group are pretty good at bringing snacks (and sharing).

There's only one guy that consistently forgets to bring food or doesn't have enough cash so asks to put it on his "tab". A bit annoying but considering he's my brother I just put up with it and usually end up paying for him... :P

Food wise, it just tends to be chips and M&Ms in bowls (occasionally even separate bowls!)
