[/snarky mode on] New Character Closeup

Anyone else notice that Sophia the Paladin in the new Character Closeup is an absurd 36-point buy character? According to the DMG 25 points is supposed to be the norm, 28 if you want a "tougher" campaign, and 32 points on the outside if you're gunning for a "high-powered" story.

If she's supposed to be a Forgotten Realms character, why's she worshipping Heironeous?

I'm not seeing where it says she's a FR character.
It doesn't, I was rolling a gloriously subtle comment about her stats and the absurdly high-powered D&D setting, FR, into one ball of sublime snarkiness. :p

I was just surprised that she is a 3.0 paladin.

The character closeup feature would have been a great place to preview the 3.5 changes.

Forceuser, in our recent D&D campaign, my dice rolling method was 4d6 (drop lowest), best 6 out of 7 scores. Sophia doesn't seem that out of place to me. :p

It's only overpowered if you run it that way, pal.

Heck, our game was 4d6 drop lowest, and these are the scores we ended up with (estimated - I don't know /exactly/ where they started before the level bumps):

Str 10, Dex 16, Con 13, Int 17, Wis 18, Cha 13 - 51 points
Str 8, Dex 13, Con 13, Int 17, Wis 12, Cha 18 - 43 points
Str 14, Dex 18, Con 13, Int 13, Wis 12, Cha 12 - 40 points
Str 16, Dex 18, Con 12, Int 14, Wis 12, Cha 9 - 41 points
Str 15, Dex 17, Con 12, Int 14, Wis 17, Cha 10 - 46 points
Str 15, Dex 9, Con 12, Int 12, Wis 14, Cha 17 - 36 points

They were all rolled with the same "dice" (computer code), but since I know exactly how it works, it's not skewed (except inasmuch as any computer code can't give /truly/ random numbers) - it just happened to give excellent results. Everyone had the option of rerolling up to twice, but strangely enough nobody took it...

It makes things a bit more difficult when it comes time to make an appropriate challenge, I can tell you.
