[/snarky mode on] New Character Closeup

IME dice-rolling causes power creep. Low-stat characters die first, and if they come back as low-stat characters they die again. If they come back as high-stat characters then the average moved up. Then the DM has to increase the power of challenges to keep up, and then someone dies - usually a lower-stat character.

Repeat.

Someone explain her high stats to me?

Really, it is not necessary to artificially bump up an opponent's stats like that ... not without a good reason to do so.

Can someone tell me the point-buy for Caladnei (a 3e character in FRCS)? *Sigh*

PS my campaign uses point buy.

The reason to bump up the stats is that by the book paladins using reasonable point buy limits suck. As do monks.

If they used 25-30 points to buy the stats, it would be a character no one would actually want to play. There isn't really a point in making a closeup of a loser character is there?
