In 3Ed, there was a difference between a spiked gauntlet and a bladed gauntlet.

In 3.5Ed, I can find the spiked gauntlet in the PHB. Where is the bladed gauntlet?

There was a much more balanced version in the Arms & Equipment Guide (3.0), but I haven't seen a 3.5 version yet.

3.5 did not make everything 3.0 obsolete. So if your DM is comfortable with the 3.0 Bladed Gauntlet (probably not the 17-20 version ), then its all good.

Keep in mind, of course, that the Bladed Gauntlet was errata'd (and all following printings of SaF were corrected) to have a 19-20 crit range, not a 17-20. So it wasn't unbalanced at all unless you actively ignore the correction, which means YOU'RE making it unbalanced.
