Sniping

Howdy!

When you are "sniping" in D&D 3.5 do your targets lose thier DEX bonus? I have been looking for this in the DMG and PHB but cannot find it. Probably overlooking it.

If your target is unaware of you, you may make a ranged attack while he is flat-footed, and therefore lose his Dex bonus.

Try looking under the hide skill in the phb.

The only thing I'd like to clarify with those rules... is if you are already hidden, and you make this round's hide check (@ -20, as your move action) while ranged attacking once, you never become visible to your target.

The "immediately hide again" thing is BS... and implies that your target becomes aware of you once you've attacked, which would preclude you from re-hiding unless you had HiPS.

Sniping is a full round action, which combines the use of the hide skill (@ -20), and one ranged attack... and a 5ft. step if that doesn't take you out from behind cover or concealment (& assorted free actions).
