Snow Blower Engine Help Needed. Please and Thank You. (EDIT: HAPPY ENDING)

Hi gang,

Let me start this with a resounding, "I am a motor/machine idiot."

I was wondering if someone could help me out. We have a snow blower and it has the electrical start plug, which I plugged in, but when I press it, all I get is a machine that is trying to start but just isn't turning over.

It pretty much has not been used in a year or so.

It has gas and I just changed out the spark plug.

Any ideas?

Does it have/need oil? Does it have a primer pump? If so, did you press it 3 times?

I'm sorry, I did not mention that.

Yes. I put in oil when I put the new plug in.

Yes. I did press the primer pump thing three times.

I have tried it with the choke on and off and at varying levels.

When I press the electrical thing, like I said, it whines and churns and sputters pretty fiercely, and I can see some "puffs of smoke" coming out of the filter-thing at the top of the machine and I can smell the gas.

Buy a shovel.

Seriously, try priming it a bit more. If it doesn't work, I'm out of ideas.

As my back can attest, I sholved most of my driveway already. Enough to get a few cars (my drive way is pretty long) on it, but there's a good chucnk more and the sidewalk to boot, so I was hoping to get it started.

If it makes you feel better my gas-powered snowblower won't start as well. I'm gonna take it in to be serviced.

And my back aches as well.

You could always get a Wovel.

If you can, turn the screw thring around a few times, pistons or chain may be rusted in place and moving should get oil on the parts. The started may not have enough torque to get the part running. I was going suggest the sparkplug and oil but you already mentioned that. Be careful and make sure all the safties are on also. Sometimes a certain switch has to be depressed for the stuff to work.

If that doesn't work, kick it twice and swear at it.

Did you use the correct mixture for the gas (some of the snow blowers need an gas/oil mixture, instead of straight gas)? That's all I can think of off the top of my head.

Tried moving the blades and like about, which I did. That didn't work.

Kicking and swearing didn't work either. Gorsh-Darn-Nabbit.
