So...does anyone play Alternity anymore?

Not I. My collection of Alternity product is complete, save the ESDs that were put out at the end of the game's run. Those two products - Externals and Warships - were, as I'm given to understand, already done, and going through editing when the game was canceled. They were released as ESDs, though not as printed products.

Did anybody ever check them out? Were/are they worth getting for generic sci-fi sourcebooks? I doubt I'll run Alternity again, but I have considered returning to the StarCraft campaign using d20 rules.

Check the sig ... the first two adventures we played ALternity rules, then I adapted them to d20. I was slaving away to post the conversion, but I'm going to wait and give d20 Modern a chance.

I was working on converting DarkStryder to the Alternity rules, but never finished it since my old group disbanded after I (as Gorjaye) was forced to blast my out of the hangar bay of the FarStar.

Ahh, those were the days. We managed to get Ned'lix to shut down all of Shadowpoint Station, just in time for the imperials to attack... not one of our finest moments...

If anyone is wondering the offical alternity site is www.alternity.net

Its run by fans and they even had an Ezine going for awhile. They have message boards but they are not all that active. It would be nice to be able to get some good discussions going there but so far mine have failed pretty badly. If anyone has an interest go check them out.

I really don't think he'll be interested as its completely not D20 but I was thinking of asking Morrus if I could start up a small Alternity site hosted on his server and with a message board listed in the main group. As things are now the official site is pretty dead. It just seems like the alternity interest is slowly withering and I think it would be nice to give it a boost. With the sheer amount of people coming to Enworld I figure at least a few would be interested in Alternity. Hopefully the traffic would carry over into the forum.....

Anyway, as I said I'm pretty sure he wouldn't be interested but who likes the idea? Any interest or is it a bad idea?

I would be interested in a site like that, but I don't think I would have any time to help out in any way... just started a new job, and classes start again soon.

I was at the d20 Modern panel board thingy today(Thursday) at Gen Con. Apparently a LOT of people at wizards love Alternity and the Dark Matter setting and want it to live on. Next year there is going to be a book of NPCs, monsters ect. and some of the aliens are going in it. There were wishes among the panel there to make a sourcebook for D20 Modern...but I gather time will tell if they get to do it or not.
