So...does anyone play Alternity anymore?

The panel was for D20 Modern.

Alternity..the system...is pretty much dead.

But the campaign setting, Dark Matter, they want to continue with D20. At this point only some of the aliens were going to be put in that NPC supliment. And sicne that isn't even published yet I'd bet even that is subject to change.

They want thoes creative ideas to continue. At this point if they were to do anything more with any of the setting or background or anything from alternity then it was going to be in the D20 modern ruleset.

Which sounded pretty nifty by the way...I'll probably pick it up when it comes out.

I hope they rerelease the Dark Matter campaign setting book updated for D20 modern. The book packed an astonishing amount of conspiracy-theory type knowledge that was easily corroborated with real websites. My players in my Dark Matter campaign always loved to find out the dark dealings behind what they would read in the newspapers. Not to mention that graphically it's one of my favorite books.

Not I. My collection of Alternity product is complete, save the ESDs that were put out at the end of the game's run. Those two products - Externals and Warships - were, as I'm given to understand, already done, and going through editing when the game was canceled. They were released as ESDs, though not as printed products.

Did anybody ever check them out? Were/are they worth getting for generic sci-fi sourcebooks? I doubt I'll run Alternity again, but I have considered returning to the StarCraft campaign using d20 rules.

I found the Externals quite interesting but not really as useful for a campign other than StarDrive

Warships is just increadably good. If you use starships and space combat in your game this is a must buy.

The Dark Matter campaign book was one of the most impressive RPG books I've ever seen. Just packed with potential. I'd sure like to see it as a sourcebook for d20 Modern --- heavy revisions would not be required. Since Chaosium has not exactly overexerted themselves supporting d20 Cthuhlu, d20 Dark Matter could fill the horror niche...

I could see StarDrive as WotC's d20 Future/Hard Science campaign...I wonder, though, if a familiar licensed setting would sell better...
