D&D 5E So, I have been out of town for a few weeks, did I miss something?

I'm sure WotC is working on 6.0 as we speak and will release it in 3 to 4 years. Of course after you had spent 1000's of $$ on 5E gear lol

Crap. I sign off of EN World to get a couple hours of shut eye and this is what happens. WHAT WAS I THINKING?!

I'm going back to the news page to hit refresh every ten seconds so I don't miss these critical scoops.

funny thing is, they have actually been pretty quite. Two big cons, limited announcements, at least for the "tabletop" game.

I guess they want to build up to that 6E launch.

Well let's see...

Gap between 1st and 2nd edition: 12 years (1977-89)
Gap between 2nd and 3rd edition: 11 years (1989-00)
Gap between 3rd and 4th edition: 8 years (2000-08)
Gap between 4th and 5th edition: 6 years (2008-14)

I'm not a mathematician, but if the pattern holds then 6E would be out sometime between 2017-19, and 7E 2-3 years later.

At some point, perhaps editions will reach some kind of Kurzweilian critical mass and the Singularity Edition will haveth arrived.

EDITED to fix my error.
