So I've never been to GenCon, but Smelly Gamers???

Two years ago, someone was walking through the dealers hall passing out little bars of soap to all the stinky people they met. I initially found it to be funny, but thinking on it, it's one thing to tell someone they are being a nusience, it's another thing to blatantly make fun of them in a public place like that.

On a lighter note, maybe someone should print up some lime green t-shirts that say "Stinky Gamer" on them in a cloud of smoke?

"If the shoe fits". Hopefully the stinkers did something about their hygiene after the "broad hint". I don't like being around stinky people. But then I don't like being around someone who smells like they bathed in every perfume at Belks either... (that tears up my sinuses something fierce; moreso than smelling like a cow pasture.)

My staff rules for Dragoncon include making sure I have a bath AND brush my teeth! I do that anyways! Can't stand bad breath! UGH! I've been around a guy who's breath stunk so bad, I had to roll down the car window in the wintertime so I could breathe. He never got rides anymore after that; that being the final straw!

The T-shirt idea: "Beware of Stinking Cloud"

I guarantee that I wouldn't have shaved the whole weekend. I never shave on vacation, and half the time I don't on weekends. I'd have a serious George Michael thing going on by Sunday.

Shaving isn't a big issue. Just make sure you "wash your ass!" is more important than whether or not you're imitating George Michael.

And no, reveal, not that kind of George Michael thing.

Now what should we tell Torm then the next time? ;)

I encountered a couple of cases of gamer funk in the exhibit hall, if I had gamed with them I would have just gave a "them or me" ultimatum ...

Peter put something about it in the con book and hopefully the message is sinking in.

One of the FLGSs in Columbus has to actually put up a sign in the game room "The <store> reminds you to BATHE regularly" because of a couple of very smelly CCG gamers who were semi-regulars and brought their odor with them.

Right after posting this to the thread I jumped in the shower ;)

Speaking of which......

But then this thread makes you want to shower for as long as the hot water holds out...

As you were saying? Typos indeed.... :p

I experimented with gaming conventions in college, but I didn't inhale...

The Auld Grump - George, the drug sniffing dog just took a whiff and keeled over dead...

heh that goes a long way back to when i was in IRC forums with the Linux Documentation people. Everytime someone would make a typo error one guy (in a funny way) would say "Tyops"! it was pretty funny if you get the joke and it stuck with me all these years :)
