I must thank Macbeth for telling me about Flogging Molly. I do so like them :) And my character is coming along nicely I think. Thanks again. Any extra advice is appreciated :)

I thought I was the only one who knew about Flogging Molly!

Welcome to the boards and to D&D gaming, Merlissa!

Rogues can be thieves; indeed that Second Edition class is what the Rogue is based on. But Rogues can also be a lot more. Stripped to the bare essencials, the Rogue is 'Skillful Person'. He isn't as good a fighter as most other classes and he can't cast spells but he is hands down the best at using skills. You have a ton of skill points compared to the rest of the classes, and a huge number of cheap (class) skills. You have skills that let you travel fast and avoid damage (jump and tumble), superior scouting skills (search and spot) and even a skill that lets you use magic items you would not normally be able to (Use Magic Device).

If 'thief' is not the route to want to go, consider that there are many different occupations where stealth and a lot of skills are useful. Military scout is a good one; your small size and ability to see in low-light conditions make you a natural scout outdoors.

Diplomat or spy is another route; you have several Charisma-based skills that deal with people. Perhaps the group is being hunted by an evil organization; they send you into town first to see if anyone is asking about them, or if spies lie in wait to trap the party.

Wow, some other Flogging Molly fans on the boards, way to go Djeta and Merlissa. Were like the offical ENWorld Flogging Molly Fans. Woo Hoo!

Halfling Rogues will rule!!!! Love the choice of character. I play one also. Something fun to do with your abundance of skill points is to take an unusual craft skill and just go nuts with it! For instance, my character is has taken Craft: Cooking. When the town sheriff loves your food, it can take you places you never thought available...

Thank goodness for my chocolate cake...it's saved me many-a-trouble...

Count me in as a new Flogging Molly fan! I downloaded some samples, loved it, and just ordered an album! And the record companies don't want us downloading...hmm, seems I just spent money I wouldn't have otherwise because I could download...go figure.

Thanks for the tip, Macbeth, Djeta, and Merlissa!

welcome.
I see Nightfall has allready jumped in several times. you will find that is ALWAYS the case whenever the Scarred Lands are mentioned . . . my advice would be to have the partys main frontline fighter be your "new best friend" during a battle. teach him to flank for you and everyone will be a whole lot happier. after the battle go see your other new best friend. the partys cleric. this tactic has served the halfling rogue in my Scarred Lands game well. and smile big and nod a lot when they lecture you about thier God and silly code of morality. then when they have done and healed you up scamper off and go back to what you were doing.

If you have setting or other questions then feel free to post them. folks here abouts will be more then happy to chime in with some sort of reply ;) asfar as getting to know your character I think you should ask the DM to provide you with a character history. then read up on the Scarred Lands [SL] setting books as well as the players handbook to get more aquainted with the rules. don't fall into the trap that you have to know all of it right now. pick it up as you go and reference the books as often as you need to. after all thats what they are for.
and always remember to have FUN!
