D&D 5E So this is how D&D 5e dies, a beautiful start only to die in disgrace because of mismanagement. RIP 5e

They have created a situation where the D&D brand is probably worth more outside of Hasbro & WoTC control, than in its now-tainted state. What social media influencer will want to associate with WoTC-D&D now?
Give it 6 months. There are already people screaming "no harm, no foul; just forgive WOTC and move on" in other groups. You don't think there isn't a legion of people who would want to be the next Critical Role or receive the direct blessings of D&D?

Whatever WotC does, the outcry will die down rapidly. Most people will drift away to the next new thing.

From what I'm seeing it is not those people who are screaming, but rather being screamed at.

Friendship is Magic, and Magic is Heresy.
People have a short attention span for outrage, and can usually manage only one outrage at a time. This will probably be mostly dead in 3 months, barring any new major gaffes from WotC.

Major gaffes are almost predictable at this point.

I don’t think so, especially not now that they have involved a pr team.

That does not mean a subsection of the community won’t continue to lose its mind with each new statement, but they’ve already skewed into conspiracy theorizing, and there is no hope for them after that.
