D&D 5E So, this is it.

I am really excited about this edition. As someone who likes multiple editions and playstyles I was totally onboard with the design goals of this edition from the start. Still love my BX and 4e but 5e may be my favorite one of all.

Here's hoping! Because I'd love to still have an "OH CRAP!" moment once or twice when I read the book. Those are fun and very satisfying.

I think you will find that feeling still occurring when you read the players handbook. I read the last playtest and still have "that's brilliant" moments. I had one today when reading how energy drain now works for monsters that have it. Draining maximum hps? Brilliant!

There is so much to take in that I'm sure you will still have that feeling.

I actually didn't give my opinion on it (not that anyone cares). Right now 13th age is my main fantasy game. I'm unsure if 5e is going to change that, I'm actually really happy with what they have announced so far, but the thing I absolutely love about 13th age is the different mechanics each class has. I mean, some of those classes play ENTIRELY different. That being said I am REALLY excited for the DMG. It sounds exactly like what I want from this. A guide of metarules to make your own game / hack the system to do whatever you want. This DMG is probably my most look forwarded to book EVER. Sadly, I hope it doesn't let me down.

Right now, my primary thought is "Bring it on". I've had enough of beta material and want the real thing. I'm not too concerned about OMG! moments, but "Mm, nicely done" moments are always welcome, and I'm very interested to see what the DMG offers.

Brutal? In what way?

Long and agonizing, I'm guessing.

Yep, this. I was really excited for the new edition when they first announced it, but at times it has really seemed they've been trying to un-sell me on the game. It also hasn't helped that I haven't actually had a chance to play, which means that my interface to the new edition has been the messageboards, which seem largely to have been constantly rehashing the same arguments repeatedly (and, in fact, many of the same arguments as with the 4e change).

I also remember when 4th edition came out, people instantly startted talking about the next edition. Everyone would shut their ears and scream tell people to shut up nothings wrong, there wouldnt be another edition for 10 years or so.I just remembered that and found it quite humorus ESPECIALLY how quickly 4th was dropepd (i :):):):)ing love 4th, let me make that clear)

The curse of the beta-tester. It's the #1 reason why I avoid participating in beta's if I can. I want to savor every release in all it's glorious newness.

ANd why I never ever watch trailers of anything but online MP games.

Although i was all over the BETA so I could make my mark.
