So, What Does CE Stand For Again?

One of the players in my campaign loves him some polymorph. He even went through the SRD MM and picked out some good creatures he could turn into.

First of all, I had to take him gently by the hand and explain the HD limit on the spell when he wanted to turn the 8th-level ranger into a hill giant.

Then, I had to explain what kind of attacks he got and which special qualities he didn't get -- like SR and breath weapons for that white dragon.

And then I happen to mention last session, "Hey, you know a white dragon's evil, don't you? So no one's going to be particularly happy to see you shaped like one, right?"

I got stunned eyes. "But, but I thought a white dragon was a good dragon! Like cowboy's hats!" Turns out he had looked at all the stats -- especially ability scores -- and ignored the flavor text, like alignments and behaviors.

I swear. Sometimes it seems like he tries to keep himself as ignorant of the game as possible so that he can claim it when I have to correct his errors.

I just find it irritating, that's all.

Done venting.

*pained wince*

Do you have the option to replace him with a better player? :\

Well,

I just brought a brand new Toyota Corolla CE.

And I'm not sure Paladin Smiting is covered by my insurance.

Darn! I guess I'll have to go Chaotic Evil, slaughter a baby gaot and ward my Parking Spot with Protection from Good.

After all, I get 40+ MPG! And only have to sacrifice one innocent virgin a week. And, gamers being gamers.....

I'll let you decide which of the 2 qualifiers is harder to come by.

If they can't flip through the MM, how will they be able to use spells like polymorph and summon monster?

Have the character in game research monsters and go by what creatures he actually has expeince with. And not just let the player open the books to summon whatever he wants based on the most powerful creatures stat wise. Heck, get a MM that has pictures and just the fluff of the mopnsters in it but no stats and use it as a prop about what the players know about creatures.
