One of the players in my campaign loves him some polymorph. He even went through the SRD MM and picked out some good creatures he could turn into.
First of all, I had to take him gently by the hand and explain the HD limit on the spell when he wanted to turn the 8th-level ranger into a hill giant.
Then, I had to explain what kind of attacks he got and which special qualities he didn't get -- like SR and breath weapons for that white dragon.
And then I happen to mention last session, "Hey, you know a white dragon's evil, don't you? So no one's going to be particularly happy to see you shaped like one, right?"
I got stunned eyes. "But, but I thought a white dragon was a good dragon! Like cowboy's hats!" Turns out he had looked at all the stats -- especially ability scores -- and ignored the flavor text, like alignments and behaviors.
I swear. Sometimes it seems like he tries to keep himself as ignorant of the game as possible so that he can claim it when I have to correct his errors.
I just find it irritating, that's all.
Done venting.
