So what is your favorite Dungeon adventure, ever?

Tough to choose just one.

My (current) top 5 (it changes!) off the top of my head:
- Thiondar's Legacy (Dungeon #30)
- Khamsa's Folly (Dungeon #40)
- Lich Queen's Beloved
- Mud Sorcerer's Tomb
- Kingdom of the Ghouls

Honorable Mention:
Prison of the Firebringer, Mad God's Key, Whispering Cairn

"Kingdom of the Ghouls," no doubt. For me, this was the one 2e adventure that really recaptured some of the magic of the classic 1st edition modules like D1-2-3.

The last 3 years or so have seen many great adventures in Dungeon, though. Lots of those Age of Worms ones were fantastic.

I suspect that in 10 years, people will generally see the Mona/Jacobs reign as a golden age of great adventures, akin to early AD&D modules.

My favorite is Erik Mona's Whispering Cairn in Dungeon #124, the first module in the Age of Worms Adventure Path. Whispering Cairn is huge, it has the whole backdrop of Diamond Lake, the Age of Worms Overload and the poster map to bolster it even further - and it's just a great D&D adventure.

I haven't played a lot of Dungeons adventures, but from what I play, I agree with Steel Wind. I'm running this adventures for the second time right now, by the way! :)

The Seige of Kratys Freehold
Mad Gods Key
Kingdom of Ghouls

A hot day in L'trel

Anyone have any conversion notes or maps for the older adventures? My map for Kratys freehold was ruined by spilled soda :(

The Quicksilver Hourglass was VERY good.

That's the epic-level one, right? I always thought it would be entertaining to see a sidebar on scaling that one down for 1st-level characters: "Replace the advanced blackstone gigant with an animated chair..."

My caveat is that I haven't read any of the AoW campaign, but only just finished TFoE.

  • Mad God's Key
  • Three Faces of Evil
  • Ex Libris
  • Standing Stones of Sundown
  • King Hrothgar's Judgement
  • Maure Castle (all of them combined)
  • Flood Season
  • Return of Flame
  • The Spiral of Manzessine
  • Bloodlines
  • Rose of Talakara

There are a few others whose titles I cannot remember: one involved a series of towers connected together by portals; each tower had a different encounter (wereshark, green dragon, orcus priest) and the other involved ... oh! Galan's Roost.

I'm working on a conversion of Kingdom of the Ghouls. My players are currently assaulting the Fane of Lolth from D3. After that we'll be on hiatus for a couple of months (maternity leave for a couple of players). When we pick up they'll spend some time on the Sunless Sea, and from there it's the dread White Kingdom.

My favorites are:

"The Statuary" in #112
"The Chamber of Antiquities" in #124
"The Greater Halls" in #139

But, I must confess, these are the only 3 issues of the magazine I own or have ever read ;)
