D&D (2024) So what's the new Player's Handbook going for on eBay?

Come on people this isn’t life saving medicine we are talking about here, it’s getting a book a bit quicker than you can get it otherwise.

Sellers sell at the best price they think Buyers will buy, it is the foundation of our world economy, not some moral degeneracy
Can't it be both?

Sure, IMO it's stupid to pay a $100 premium to get the new PHB a few weeks early.

But IMO what's unethical is telling people what they can do with their legally obtained property. "You got something limited and now you can't sell it because someone is willing to pay you a bunch of money for it."
No one is telling them that they can't do it - but we are free to judge them for it, are we not? With many many shades of what "judgement" means - most of which is a simple eye-roll or a snide guffaw.

I should do the right thing and bet $999 dollars on one of the bidding ones. Then not pay for it once I win the bid.

I've gotten banned from eBay three times now for screwing with scalpers and saying some choice words in the review/comments section. What's another 20 more accounts?

Now I'll admit, if one of these were at a normal, reasonable price, I'd bite. Heck, I have the limited edition alt cover reserved and planned on buying a regular copy for myself and one as a late bday gift for my one bro.

But that's all just crazy.

There are people who go to cons for this reason alone. Fans and collectors spend lots of money on this stuff. Isn't that the entire premise of Beadle & Grims?
There is literally nothing i own that i wouldn't sell if someone offered me an outrageous mark up.
