D&D (2024) So what's the new Player's Handbook going for on eBay?

Except standing in line is a poor use of time. Plus it has other concerns such as security and logistics.

They should have had a better website that wouldn't crash. Easy to do if they had set it up right. Or simple done a lottery draw each day for each registered attendee who sign up for the offer.
Ive attended SDCC for 16 years, there are different ways they could've handled this.
It would've been better to set up a line each day, first 100 people get a ticket or wristband, then send them over to buy the book the next day. Or a battle Royale, where you have to go into a pit and battle WotC staff for the prize.

The Gencon website is a notoriously glitchy piece of poop (as evidenced by the hotel lottery, the events lottery, by which time its too late to get a refund on your badge, and the PHB lottery. I took screen shots as proof and pray WotC does not do this again, it's really an insult to those who really care about D&D. Oh well.

As a piece to be enjoyed really. Planescape covers for example, several of the other special edition covers, you know. To look at and enjoy.

As a collector sure. I guess I just look at what it will be worth later. Most this stuff just takes up space and collects dust.

My PoV may just be weird because I move every 5-10 years. Less stuff to box up seems more appealing.

Yeah I understand that angle as well. I've just completed a large downsizing, I still kept a few things which have enough sentimental value to be worth the space/weight considerations. I could now get all the stuff I care about, into 2 boxes and a few backpacks.
