So what's your gaming experience

Welcome to the community

1. Since the fall of 1993

2. Mostly just D&D 3.5 but I have played a few others through the years, mostly the other versions of D&D, GURPS, Warhammer roleplaying, Middle Earth. Quite a few different d20 systems and campaign settings. And the only card game I have ever played Pirates of The Spanish Main.

3. There has been quite a few. There was a night that I had four characters die in one session. I have been to two cons both since Gen Con came to Indy and never untill walking with some of the guys here did we truly experience the little known but greatly feared "Con Funk". When my thief Valkar took out an outpost watch tower while the rest of the group was sleeping. DMing wise it was running the appocolypse box.

1.) I have been gaming for nearly 27 years - but not necessarily with D&D. I started playing games on the Atari 2600 back in 1978 - Adventure was my first RPG. I didn't actually start playing the D&D game until 1989 (the release of the dreaded 2nd Ed).

2.) I play 3rd Ed, as well as a multitude of board games. I have played MERPS, GURPS, D&D 1st and 2nd, Shadowrun, and some Palladium game that I forget the name.

3.) The greatest memory that I have was being a DM in college - the last session before the end of the spring semester each year (before everyone went home for the summer), I ran the players through my famous "red dragon" dungeon. I figured that hte characters that hte players used in my campaigns at school were to stay at school, so the only rule was, if the character died, I was allowed to rip up the sheet and throw it away. In four years, 33 people went through that dungeon. One survived, and he didn't even kill the dragon. He only stole a few baubles and ran like the dickens. Oh, to play a red dragon again...especially a mean one.

1) 1985 - basic with the monster manual (before AD&D PH and DMG were published)

2) currently only 3.5 campaigns of vampire, werewolf, paranoia, TMNT, changeling, 1st ed, 2nd ed and Basic-Masters

3) many, many ...
Running a GenCon game where I almost convinced a party of lycnathropic house cats to abandon stoping the apocolpys - so they could curl up and nap in the sun.

A fight in a haunted mansion, where the insane master of the house was tanglefooted at the top of a staircase. He fell backward down the steps, and snarling, the white make up running off his sweating face. One player asked "so he isn't really a vampire then?" , meanwhile the party traitor tried to knock the other PC's down on top of him. The traior eventually managed to talk his way out trouble with the parties patriach, and the rest of the family(party) didn't touch him.

1.)How long have you been gaming?
Since September 1985, sitting in my friend's dorm room and was asked to play the character of a missing player. I've been hooked ever since.

2.)What do you play?
I've played D&D nearly exclusively, from my 1st 1e game until today with 3.5. There have been forays into other games, such as Call of Cthulhu (classic and d20), Boot Hill, Gamma World, and a 10 year love affair with DC Heroes which ended in 2000. Lately, I've been hoping to run a Star Wars d20 campaign, as well as play in an upcoming Mutants and Masterminds game.

3.)What is your most memorible moment while gaming?
It's so hard to pick just one. My best player moments stem from my days of playing 1e (I've DM'd ever since with almost no time as a player). There was the time my Anti-Paladin used his innate charm ability to get past an ancient blue dragon (it needed a 3 to save and rolled a 2) or the time the same character was switched with his Boot Hill counterpart and survived an attack by a bounty hunter when his gun jammed, or being the first player to ever survive my college DM's "killer campaign" which had claimed the lives of every PC who'd ever played in it for over 2 years prior...I could go on and on. Great, great times.

1) Played my first game in October of 1981.

2) Currently running two OAD&D campaigns (still my favourite) and one D&D 3.0 campaign that started over the Christmas holidays.
A couple times a year I usually drag out my old DC Heroes RPG for some short JLA campaign arc that lasts for a month or two, and I similarly inflict a month's worth of CoC on some players from time to time, as well.

3) Lots of great memories--

In my very first game my half-orc Veteran was killed and eaten by a giant crayfish that plucked me off a homemade raft, and I was too busy visualising how cool that was to be upset;

The look on a player's face when he made a perfectly legit and impossibly well-timed roll to hurl a stake and kill a vampire lord in a pitched battle atop a gloomy castle;

The time a group of villains destroyed our hq and we got to design and build a new one;

When a group of players travelled into the past to defeat a demon lord who'd been infiltrating the dreams of party members in the present;

Our first CoC session, where the players involved discovered how scary it can be to play games without cool powers or armour :D ;

The sheer impact and genuine emotional role-playing of my players when I destroyed Kandor/New Krypton and they went after the villain that did it;

The original fourteen hour (real-time session) seige of the lair of Igglewert Gulletstone, gnome Evil High Priest;

The time the mule kicked the snot out of two greedy and viciously opportunistic PCs in Keep on the Borderlands and escaped with their rope of climbing;

When my players finished G3, cornering and finally defeating Eclavdra.

(Man, what a great hobby.)

3. Gah! To many to count. We'll just call in an ongoing love of the game and leave it at that :)

Since I'm new to the Enworld boards I thought I would try to get some of my fellow posters by asking what's your gaming experience?

1.)How long have you been gaming?

2.)What do you play?

3.)What is your most memorible moment while gaming?

1) Since spring '76

2) Mostly 3.5, occasionally Mutants and Masterminds, I've had a weakness for Superhero games all my life. I have probably tried every RPG printed between the years '76 to 2000.

3) OD&D; I just joined a new group, I played a 1st level Elf Thief named Jurin Runestream who in his 1st session, saved the high-level party he joined from A Red Dragon by tricking the Dragon into falling into a pit of Green Slime.
