Based on the world of Kai Lord novel by Joe Dever. It's one of those make-a-choice game novel series that includes dice rolling to resolve combats.

Technically incorrect. It uses a random number chart instead - you hold your pencil some distance above the page, and then drop it and see what number you get. You could easily replace that with a d10, however.

I will buy it, but I doubt I'll use it. I loved the books as a kid and this will be a nostalgia buy for me.

Maybe some years down the road I'll use the setting. Or maybe there will be some great stuff to lift for use in other settings.

I will be purchasing it, but not likely in the first month or so it's available. I loved the Lone Wolf series as a kid (heck, I like it now!) and think it would make a fantastic fantasy setting to play in, but I have so many systems on my plate right now (Forgotten Realms, Arcana Unearthed, Feng Shui, etc.) That there's no time to play them all.

So I keep buying the books I want to play when I retire. :D Of course, there will be newer and better games by then, so it's a lost cause.

I pre-ordered it from WalMart.com. Yeah, I know, I'm not supporting my local gaming store, and my order from the big box store will cause the downfall of civilization.

But back to Mongoose's Lone Wolf RPG -- I am highly dubious about it. Some of the preview materials indicate that Mongoose has made some... questionable... design decisions. In my opinion, of course. Nostalgia compelled me to order this, but it doesn't compel me to like it.

The thing is, Magnamund (the world of Lone Wolf) is not very D&D friendly. For one thing, there are no dragons. Also, no elves, halflings, or gnomes. That means that using a published D&D adventure in Magnamund requires some serious tweaking, which is annoying.

Ah well. Rambling and grumbling -- I think I'm getting old.

That's why it is a d20 product, not a D&D product.

I mean honestly, do you expect the modern world of Spycraft (by AEG) to include dragons and elves, too? :p
