So why are you at ENWorld?

Been here from the start, it is the beer. ;)

Grandmother's rule; a simple understanding on what you say and how you act has made this place civilized. Back in the days of rumors of 3E, other boards had members that would atack any topic and poster (I am sure it still goes on) or be so game centered that you could not discuss anything other than D&D as wrote in the books (I am sure it still goes on).

ENWorld gave me the fringe of gaming, outside the box stuff, allowing me to discuss concepts and homedrewing, helping me be a better player, DM and gamer.

As for the overrun of topics on a subject, that is the waves of ENWorld, I have seen it over the years. Same topics everytime there is a rumor of a new edition.

I spend most of my "forum" time at EN because it has the best collection of gamers, trolls, fanbois, rules lawyers, grognards, munchkins, greifers, writers, newbies, haters and self absorbed "experts" that I've been able to find anywhere.

And because the mods keep it all running smoothly by enforcing Grandmother's Rule.

I still read some threads here, though not anywhere nearly as much as I used to before the 4E announcement and pre-release days. In general I find more abrasive and snarky posts here than other forums but I guess its expected as more people post here than other forums.

WoW servers are down on tuesdays, might be why im here atm too. :)

I'm here because I think that it's the largest, best moderated, general D&D discussion forum online. The fact that people discuss other games, too, is just an added bonus.

To me, these *are* the D&D forums, and the moderation here is second-to-none. I wish I could find forums of this quality for all of my hobbies, I really do. That is why I'm here, and why I go out of my way to see that this places survives.

This. The moderators here actually moderate. They aren't just dark figures in the background that delete threads and posts or post vague warnings. They teach us all to be more pleasant or go away. Even me when I go over the edge. I appreciate having someone to reign me in and tell me to stop being an asshat.

I came for the 4E rumors, and hung around for all the great discussion of D&D and other RPG's. There's an active and generally polite community with plenty of interesting stuff to talk about. The moderators due a great job keeping it that way. Unlike say the WoW forums, where the signal:noise ratio is so low there's not much point in reading them. zomg u n00bs at bl1zz shud nerf pallies!!!11eleven!1
