So, you roll 6 18's.

This might be a good time to play that half-orc bard.

Or just to go all the way with the cheese, a dwarven cleric.

Either way, it'll be fun for a grand total of maybe two sessions.

I'd play a Dark Moon Monk. That would be the stats to make that concept work.

Think about it: You take monk, a class where you need Str, Dex, Con, Wis, so you have two dump stats, one if you want some more skill points and take some Int, and then combine it with Sorcerer. That means one to zero stats that can be neglected. You need fairly high point buy or really nice rolls to make it work.

My friend rolled 2 or 3 18s for a character once. That was the sweetest wizard ever.

The Dragon who ate him agreed. :p

My first thought was to play a class that is regarded as underpowered. Maybe even and NPC class. And I like the suggestion to play a race that takes a couple of ability score hits.

Maybe a half-orc Noble, bastard son of the Duke.

Your chances of rolling all 18's rolling 4d6-drop is 7.15 in one million.

Your chances of rolling all 18's rolling 3d6-straight is 1.75 in ten million.

Your chances of getting struck by lightning each year is 1 in five million.

If you ever roll all 18's, run.

That's a lot better than I thought!

1 chance in 133,000 to get all 18's... on 4d6 drop.

There have probably been what, a million or two characters rolled up since 3.0 was released?

It's not inconceivable that a few people have hit all 18's... Maybe.

++++++++

If I had 6 18's, I'd uncork my half-orc monk/bard build.

That is what it would take to make it viable (6 18's!).

It's time to make a really awesome kobold.
Finally! Someone on the same wavelength. Fear the mighty Kobold!

I'd definitely say go for it if you somehow manage to roll that...its probably a once in a lifetime roll, so why not? Besides, you probably don't have too much longer to live afterwards with that kind of luck. ;)

Actually, I've seen someone roll four 18s in a row for their stats, and they ended up playing a Half-Orc Monk that was probably one of the most entertaining characters I've seen.

I just find it sad that every time I see this topic, people automatically assume that someone must be cheating to get high scores. Granted, it's statistically improbable that someone would roll an 18 result 6 times in a row, but it's not impossible.

I've got a friend who, when he rolls really good stats - say, more than 3 16s in a set - will reroll to get something lower. He was burned by cheaters years ago, and now would rather discard a really good set than risk having his friends think he might have cheated. I think that's just sad. :\
