Solar Armor = Insane!

Nope.

Of course, I'm blessed with players who would never ask. ;)

I would allow him to do it.

Because then he'd either have to damage himself with DC damage if he attacked someone else or attack himself and -take- damage (LOL).

Unless he damaged himself he'd drop the DC and lose it's use the next round.

Then he'd still not get the reaction from Solar Armor.

Sometimes the best way to punish such cheese is to let him go through the motions. If he complains, you can always say 'It's not my fault you don't understand either the rules of the game, or the rules of smart roleplay. Seriously. Stop.'

As written, a god or goddess cannot deny their paladins or clerics their power. Once chosen it is up to the clergy to police their own if they are using their powers unwisely, unless you've house ruled otherwise.

Either way, it is just the case that what you think is right, wrong, or makes perfect sense is not what other people may think is right, wrong, or makes perfect sense.
But people here gave you bunch of reasons why it doesn't work, and based their affirmation with rules from the books. What do you need more? A Paladin can't divine challenge himself... And I wouldn't even asked myself the question...
