Although it's pretty much an academic concern, I agree that Solars being limited to 4 attacks is a retroactive rules alteration and not a corrected mistake or typo. There's simply no cap to iterative attacks implied anywhere in the core rules, and monks even show an unarmed attack progression with 5 attacks.

Which they still are allowed even in the sources that limit all other attack progression to 4 attacks, though - so that's neither here nor there...

I really don't think there's much more to discuss. You think that someone screwed up when they wrote the entry for the solar, I think that they changed the rules after the fact.
