Somebodies got PHB3!

I too am obsessed with breasts.
Yeah, me too. Although I can see a psionic crystalline entity picking up their body image from external minds - which would entirely explain why they display humanoid secondary sexual characteristics.

Whoo hoo, rationalized!

I'm actually really excited about the shardmind. I'll change the name, but I really like the idea.

Incidentally, this is partially a Rules thread, but we can't move threads right now and it's too long for me to want to close. Carry on.

Umm, the RPG.net guy does HAVE the book......
You haven't seen the powers from Skill Powers yet. You don't have DDi nor do you have the book. So saying "Power creep" is a bit premature when you haven't even read the content.

The RPG.net guy hasn't posted any skill powers. Those of us who have DDI have seen those skill powers, and aren't going bonkers over 'em.

What stat options would the existing races get, if we were to retool with the PHB 3 approach?

Dragonborn - +2 Str and +2 Con/Cha
Dwarf - +2 Con and +2 Wis/Int (for artificers)
Eladrin - +2 Int and +2 Dex/Wis (for wizards)
Elf - +2 Dex and +2 Wis/Str (for rangers)
Half-Elf - +2 Wis and +2 Dex/Con (*shrug* half-elves make no sense)
Halflings - +2 Cha and +2 Dex/Wis (do you wanna be a kender, or a hobbit?)
Humans - +2 to any one, maybe some extra minor perk

Half elf bonuses are +2 Con/Cha.

So how about +2 Cha, +2 Con/Int (Bards)?

Humans - +2 to any one, maybe some extra minor perk
Honestly, Humans continue to be the best. Because we get new at wills and new feats, it makes their bonus at will/feats a big incentive.

I think Genasi would be +2 Int, +2 Str/Con (Hey, they all ready are THE Swordmage class, might as well go the whole nine yards).

It still qualifies as power creep, because it's a way to get more powers. It doesn't matter if the additional powers you get actually make you more powerful.

It's power creep in the same way that backgrounds represented power creep when they were first introduced.

Based on Rechan's quotes I hate to say it ... but skill powers seem to be a big power creep. I've thought the same with hybrid classes, at least based on the playtest article.

Hybrid classes really aren't - there are one or two overpowered combinations (namely, any builds focusing on minor action attacks to use both hybrid halves special abilities at once)... but those are rare, and not really any worse than other optimization you can do elsewhere.

Skill powers, honestly, you are probably right. Giving everyone extra utilities for feats is a bit much. But the skill powers in general didn't seem too powerful, so I don't think this is going to break the game. In all honesty, I see this more as opening up some more non-combat focused characters - spending all their feats on new skills, extra skill powers, and maybe rituals or martial practices, and you've got an interesting bag of tricks...

I absolutely disagree. It depends a lot on the power you gain. After all, feats do actually give already advantages. Skill Focus gives me a +3 feat bonus to one skill. Weapon Focus +1 to +3 to all weapon damage rolls a character will probably make. Lotus Academy Riposte or what's-it-called gives you extra damage out of your turn. Just become some game ability is expressed as a power doesn't mean it's more powerful.

I disagree. power creep IMPLIES you're more powerful/unbalanced.

Otherwise, if it did NOT, then who cares?
