But whatever. Let's wait til the actual BOOK gets here with the actual POWERS in them, or look at the DDi article with this new info, before sounding the alarm bells.

Y'know, the Skill Powers weren't... that great. I mean, they were nice, but they weren't "Power creep!" levels of great; none were BETTER than class-specific utilities. Because they are accessible to anyone trained in that skill, they're not going to be that powerful. The intention is to offer versatility, not raw power.

Well, I can say there are some options that will be better than a given class's options fairly regularly. Still, now that we're past the PHB1 stage, and now that most every class has its Power book, feats are suddenly a valuable and essential commodity. Most of the time, I'd rather have a feat than another Utility Power.

There are some real gems, though... Two stand out, IMO:

Agile Recovery: Level 2 Acrobatics, At-Will. Stand as a minor action.

Guided Shot: Level 6 Perception, Encounter. Close burst 10 immediate interrupt. Change an ally's attack from AC to Reflex.

Heck; I like Spot the Path (Nature 10) a lot, too.


With all of this said, I don't see power creep - I see option creep, as you mentioned. All of these are available at appropriate levels, and most classes have equally good - or better - options at those levels. They're gems, though, for classes which haven't had their Power book yet, like Seekers. (And for classes with crappy Utility powers, like Rangers.)

Regarding skill powers, isn't that kinda like what we wanted?
Generic powers available to all characters?
Perhaps we said something about generic power source related powers, true, but hey, if they want to emphasize skill use first, who am I to judge?

The breasts were added as a design features when the shardminds realised it was giving them a +2 circumstance bonus when dealing with men.

Slightly more seriously, I can imagine the crystal body being 'grown' in a crystal matrix (remember those science experiments, everyone?) that conforms to an ancient pattern....that just happens to be based on one of the female founders of the race. Or something.

I'm still withholding judgement. Seems pretty goofy on the surface, but it could be salvaged with half-decent fluff, or a strong archetype. It's also PH3, so by this point, I'm probably more forgiving of the goofy than I was in PH1 -- when you get to a certain point, you bust out the triphegs, I understand.

...if I'm a shardmind...and I take battlemind...does that mean I have two minds, one shard, and one war...er...battle?
