Someone beautiful is cursed...

Disfigure
Necromancy
Level: Clr 3, Sor/Wiz 3
Components: V, S, M/DF
Casting Time: 1 standard action
Range: Close (25 ft. + 5 ft./2 levels)
Effect: One living creature
Duration: 1 min./level
Saving Throw: Fortitude negates
Spell Resistance: Yes

You cause your target to suffer horrible deformities and hideous scarring from blows they have recieved. Each time they are the target of a healing spell within the duration of the spell they must succeed on a save or take 1 point of permanent Charisma damage per 2 hit dice worth of healing. Spells that heal a specific amount, such as Heal, do not cause charisma-damage.

Arcane Material Component: Sloughed skin of a leper.

Disfiguring
A disfiguring weapons deals 1 point of Charisma damage when it hits as its blows mutilate and deforms the area of the creature it strikes. A critical hit does not multiply the Charisma damage. Unliving creatures are not affected by this enhancement.
Moderate necromancy; CL 7th; Craft Magic Arms and Armor, disfigure; Price +1 bonus.

The Disfiguring weapon is far too strong for a +1 equivalent because it allows for quick and efficient slaying of beasts with low Charisma.

For instance, consider the Purple Worm. Sure, you could deal it 200 damage, but that takes a long time. A group outfitted with disfiguring weapons and the Haste spell will probably kill it on the first round, even a level 6 group (it is a CR 12 monster).

There's also the fact that Cha should have almost nothing to do with physical appearance. (Look at what charisma modifies, and there are a lot of uses which have nothing to do with physical appearance.)

You could solve both problems at once by making it a penalty to specific checks, rather than charisma damage.

"Not in the face! Don't ... uh ... cure me in the face."

So this spell does nothing in and of itself, it only inflicts a penalty if the target receives healing from a cure spell?

Seems rather weak. Or, if the DM doesn't inform the PC who was cursed what the effect of the curse is, it could be used as a trick... but a very mean-spirited one.

Or you could manifest Ego Whip and kill it even faster.

Should have almost nothing? Granted looks are definitely not everything, but Charisma very much includes looks.

Also, when your face is covered in scar tissue and you can't talk well because your lips are swelled almost shut and you move differently because of how you healed... its more than just looks, it affects your entire body. Speech and stance as well as appearance.

That'd make for a pretty long spell wouldn't it?

Heh, thats funny with the others above thinking its a killer.

But yeah, I kinda thought it'd be nasty if you got healed and took Charisma-damage.

Ego Whip wouldn't kill it faster. 1d4 save for half (round down but minimum 1) averages out lower than just full attacking with Haste and a weapon that does 1 guaranteed Charisma damage per hit.

Of course if you meant that you could have a devious party where the Psion manifests Ego Whip and everyone else uses Disfiguring weapons so that their efforts stack, and this would work faster, that's true.

I think everyone agrees with Nifft that the spell is not all that, since it requires healing to function. The killer is the weapon enhancement, which does 1 guaranteed Cha damage per hit.

The "killer" effect is the weapon, which I'm not talking about, because the others covered it pretty well. :)
