The latter pizza was actually really delicious. Isn't it odd that the one you deliberate over and pick an unusual combination of toppings turns out to be the best?

I had traditional neopolitan pizza last night with anchovies and (real, not those plastic pretenders from a can) olives.

In fact they where the basis of a staple dish in Roman times (can't remember the name off the top of my head)...

You may be thinking of garum, which was a condiment sauce generally made from assorted fish guts and not necessarily anchovies.

Anchovies are also part of what gives Worchestershire sauce and most steaks sauces their unique flavor.


I like anchovies on pizza, but yes, they must be put on before the pizza is baked and they should be used like a garnish... A little anchovy goes a long way.

Yes to the anchovies! Actually, yes to pretty much anything except pineapple - pineapple on pizza is the worst thing ever. Ever.

I love pineapple on pizza.

About anchovies, I honestly do not know if I like them or not. Never had 'em.
