Someone talk to me about the SW Trilogy Boxed Set

So, I see wild variances in the pricing for the SW DVD boxed set. Why? Is there some difference between the silver and gold? Is there real silver and real gold in there? I've seen them as low as $30 and as high as $9000??? The net's giving me nothing.

Silver is Widescreen...Gold is Fullscreen. That's the only difference.

I got it back when it came out for about $40. Why it goes insanely high, I don't know, but you can find it pretty much anywhere for a reasonable price...

Same here (I have silver; I'm a widescreen junkie. And now I have a TV wherein I can actually appreciate it.) I can't imagine any reason why they'd go for $9000.

I got my widescreen set at Wal-Mart for something like $45 ($50) with taxes. $9K is absurd. The set is nice, features a documentary about the making of SW, commentaries for each movie and an easter egg of bloopers.

Actually, it's platinum, but it's not like we can tell a difference between that and silver.

You get 4 discs: 1 for each film, and a bonus material disc. It's slightly improved from the Special Edition Star Wars Original Trilogy.

"$9000"??? That thing better come with autographs and a free weekend at Skywalker Ranch.

... and it'd still be overpriced.

It was some weird Froogle badness, I think. I don't see it today. Hopefully, no one actually paid for it...

Thanks for the replies, everyone. I think I may slip out and buy it today for my youngest's birthday. He's a bigger SW junky than me. (I was going to boycott, but what's the point...)

Okay, throw in your very own remote-controlled R2-D2 with built-in beverage dispenser.
Remote controlled? Screw that; he better be a freakin' real Artoo unit to be worth that kinda money. I could put him to work serving drinks, like Jabba did. ;)
