Someone to watch over me...

Oh, I've met Xath. She's a perfectly nice person. I just want to see if I can dig up the link to annoy her. :)

Seriously, if it bugs you that much, maybe you should talk to your manager about it. Tell him that you don't like it.

Or, you could just take a picture of everyone working in the room, and then stick it in front of the webcam, so that it just shows the same image every 10 seconds. :)

When I have houses built I have started putting up webcams, some hidden, so that the buyers can see the progress on their homes. But I do have to admit that I have used them to monitor contractors. One thing we discovered was hourly billing generally came in at least 25% lower when they knew there was an onsite camera.

Like most things it's a doble edged sword. Several people have taken to wearing baseball caps while working on the job site to obscure their faces. And interestingly enough, while I do not give the link out to anyone other than the buyers, I have had many requests for the site url from spouses of the workers.

Actually, my one boss suggested that very thing.

I've found the camera thing to be one of two things (or both):
1. My boss is really bored.
2. The building sponsers have been putting pressure on the managers to "see the high tech aspect" of the building.

Wanna know what they've been watching me do?

Today, while watching The Price is Right and The Cosby Show, I labled and coiled cable, tied it up with tie-line, and made sure the edges of the tie-line weren't frayed.

Yesterday I did the exact same thing. And Friday. Etc.

Soon, I'll get to go through all of the cable and tie-line again to dip the ends of the tie-line in glue, so that they dont fray anymore. EXCITING!!!

I hope the sponsors are happy with where their money is going.

I don't know if I could take it to Fox, yet. Maybe UPN....

If only there were a camera at my afternoon job. Yesterday I had the exciting task of scraping clay off the floor!!!!!

*Disclamer: Normally my jobs aren't this boring. There's just nothing to do, so they'd rather we did menial tasks than nothing at all.

Yes, but not about me. I actually want to write the world's best Atlas. No kidding. It's one of my life goals.

isn't an atlas mostly maps? one would think the writing would be the simple part

No, because a good/interesting atlas (in my mind) presents an informative history of each country without being bland or dusty. Yes, pictures do mostly outnumber text, but I've always been more of a visual learner anyway.
