Another Horsedreamer's Blues by Counting Crows really used to define who I was, but I've changed a lot... I've become a much happier person and don't know if there is a song that truly identifies who I have become... but - I'll share the lyrics to the song that defined who I was.

Another Horsedreamer's Blues

Margery's dreaming of the middle of the day
Tiyuri to win
Perfect Dozen to place
money is the matter that's been on her mind
time ticks by her one race at a time

She's tryin' to be a good girl
And give 'em what they want
But Margery's dreaming of horses

Lookin' at a green sky
Sun like a red eye
Bright blue horses are the fortune she lives by
She's tired and lonely
Scared and depressed
Her visions of one day go racing the next

She's trying to be a good girl
And give 'em what they want
But Margery's dreaming of horses

Margie doesn't say anything all the way home
So afraid she'll awake to find she's all alone

Margery's wingspan's all feathers and coke cans, and
TV dinners and letters she won't send, and
Every race night is shot through with sunlight
Trying to hit the big one one last time tonight for...
Drunken father s and stupid mothers and
Boys who can't tell one girl from another
So she takes her pills
Careful and round
One of these days she's gonna throw the whole bottle down

But she's trying to be a good girl
And give 'em what they want
But Margery's dreaming of...

Trying to be a good girl
And give 'em what they want
But Margery's dreaming of horses

I thought it was too schmaltzy when Billy Joel sang it. But who am I to talk? My favorite "slow" Billy Joel song is Lullaby from his River of Dreams album.

Schmaltzy is a good way to describe it. I don't really like River of Dreams at all but Lullabye is a great tune. Sounds more like his old stuff than the rest of the album.

All me baby!

I'm too sexy for my love too sexy for my love
Love's going to leave me

I'm too sexy for my shirt too sexy for my shirt
So sexy it hurts
And I'm too sexy for Milan too sexy for Milan
New York and Japan

And I'm too sexy for your party
Too sexy for your party
No way I'm disco dancing

I'm a model you know what I mean
And I do my little turn on the catwalk
Yeah on the catwalk on the catwalk yeah
I do my little turn on the catwalk

I'm too sexy for my car too sexy for my car
Too sexy by far
And I'm too sexy for my hat
Too sexy for my hat what do you think about that

I'm a model you know what I mean
And I do my little turn on the catwalk
Yeah on the catwalk on the catwalk yeah
I shake my little touche on the catwalk

I'm too sexy for my too sexy for my too sexy for my

'Cos I'm a model you know what I mean
And I do my little turn on the catwalk
Yeah on the catwalk on the catwalk yeah
I shake my little touche on the catwalk

I'm too sexy for my cat too sexy for my cat
Poor pussy poor pussy cat
I'm too sexy for my love too sexy for my love
Love's going to leave me

And I'm too sexy for this song

(At least in my own imagination)

"Wanderlust" by Nightwish

I want to see where the sirens sing
Hear how the wolves howl
Sail the dead calm waters of the Pacific

Dance in the fields of coral
Be blinded by the white
Discover the deepest jungle

I want to find The Secret Path
A bird delivered into my heart, so

It`s not the end
Not the kingdom come
It is the journey that matters, the distant wanderer
Call of the wild
In me forever and ever and ever forever
Wanderlust

I want to love by the Blue Lagoon
Kiss under the waning moon
Straying, claiming my place in this mortal coil

Riding the dolphins
Asking the mountains
Dreaming Alaska
The Earth can have but Earth

I want to find...

It`s not the end...

Look into my eyes and see the wanderer
See the mirrors of a wolf behold the pathfinder

"Rock And Roll" by the Velvet Underground

Jenny said when she was just five years old
You know there's nothing happening at all
Every time she puts on the radio
There was nothing goin' down at all
Then one fine mornin' she puts on a New York station
She couldn't believe what she heard at all
She started dancin' to that fine fine music
You know her life was saved by Rock 'n' Roll
Despite all the amputations
You could just dance to a rock 'n' roll station

Jenny said when she was just five years old
My parents are gonna be the death of us all
Two TV sets and two Cadillac cars--
Ain't gonna help us at all
Then one fine mornin' she puts on a New York station
She don't believe what she heard at all
She started dancin' to that fine fine music
You know her life was saved by Rock 'n' Roll
Despite all the computations
You could just dance to a rock 'n ' roll station

Two songs define me pretty well. One states the problem, the other, the answer.

Both Sides Now

Rows and floes of angel hair
And ice cream castles in the air
And feather canyons ev'rywhere
I've looked at clouds that way

But now they only block the sun
They rain and snow on ev'ryone
So many things I would have done
But clouds got in my way
I've looked at clouds from both sides now
From up and down, and still somehow
It's clouds' illusions I recall
I really don't know clouds at all

Moons and junes and ferris wheels
The dizzy dancing way you feel
As ev'ry fairy tale comes real
I've looked at love that way

But now it's just another show
You leave 'em laughing when you go
And if you care, don't let them know
Don't give yourself away

I've looked at love from both sides now
From give and take, and still somehow
It’s love's illusions I recall
I really don't know love at all

Tears and fears and feeling proud
To say I love you right out loud
Dreams and schemes and circus crowds
I've looked at life that way

But now old friends are acting strange
They shake their heads, they say I've changed
Well something's lost, but something’s gained
In living ev'ry day

I've looked at life from both sides now
From win and lose and still somehow
It's life's illusions I recall
I really don't know life at all

Desiderata

Go placidly amid the noise and haste, and remember what peace there may be in silence.

As far as possible, without surrender, be on good terms with all persons. Speak your truth quietly and clearly; and listen to others, even the dull and ignorant; they too have their story.

Avoid loud and aggressive persons, they are vexations to the spirit. If you compare yourself with others, you may become vain and bitter; for always there will be greater and lesser persons than yourself.

Enjoy your achievements as well as your plans. Keep interested in your career, however humble; it is a real possession in the changing fortunes of time. Exercise caution in your business affairs; for the world is full of trickery. But let this not blind you to what virtue there is; many persons strive for high ideals; and everywhere life is full of heroism.

Be yourself. Especially, do not feign affection. Neither be cynical about love; for in the face of all aridity and disenchantment it is as perennial as the grass.

Take kindly the counsel of the years, gracefully surrendering the things of youth. Nurture strength of spirit to shield you in sudden misfortune. But do not distress yourself with imaginings. Many fears are born of fatigue and loneliness.

Beyond a wholesome discipline, be gentle with yourself. You are a child of the universe, no less than the trees and the stars; you have a right to be here. And whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should.

Therefore be at peace with God, whatever you conceive Him to be, and whatever your labors and aspirations, in the noisy confusion of life, keep peace with your soul.

With all its sham, drudgery and broken dreams, it is still a beautiful world.

Be cheerful.

Strive to be happy.

Everytime I feel beaten down and that nothing's right in the world, I listen to this. For some reason It picks me up and keeps me going. I don't know if this falls under the Erics Grandma rules, but if there's any song in the world that defines me, this one is probably it. If anyone finds it offensive, just notify a mod and they'll delete it for you.

It's a strange song from a non-religious band. It just fits me very well. No nonsense, cut the BS kinda song. A song that reminds the that I don't really know jack and I had best keep on being the best person I can regardless of how tough it gets.

Jennyanykind — You Better Get Right With God

God says, "You can't take 'nuthing from me,
that I couldn't very easily take right back from ya,
I'll give you everything you want if you just say please,
like faith and hope. At least that's something."

God says, "Lets get one thing straight.
We only use two words around here, one's
pride and the other's quality and if your thinking about
qutting I'm afraid it's too late.
You are bound and commited by your own atrocity."

I say, "God, how can I get some slack on this leash?"
He says, "I know, I know — I think they call it the great thirst or something.
But you're in the wrong place if you're looking for relief.
Because I hide in the midst of half-spoken promises."

Oh! You better get right with God.
You better get right with God.
You better get right.
You better get right, baby.

God says, "You only pray when you want something.
They call it mercy but to me it's charity.
You know there ain't nothing to me that's just charity.
And there still ain't nothing for free.
For Free."

God says, "I am in nothing that happens.
So don't blame it on "providence" or whatever you say.
You just go your way and I'll go mine, son.
And well get together when your time comes.

Oh! You better get right with God.
You better get right with God.
You better get right.
You better get right, baby.

God says, "Boy, I know what ya'll do best.
I've given you life, but you feed on death.
And you say it's OK
Until you die like the rest.
But don't mind me if I seem a little sour.
'Cause I know the sun moves an inch from the sky every hour."
