First Post
As of the end of this year, I will no longer be employed by Wizards of the Coast. The powers that be at Wizards and Hasbro have determined that an art staff is unecessary.

Whatever.

I will be seeking work primarily in the book trade, but am willing to entertain all offers. I love D&D and the role-playing industry, and will not go away quietly. Contact me at todd@toddlockwood.com if you are interested in getting bids on your d20 projects. :o)

Please also express your disappointment to Wizards of the Coast. It won't likely make any difference, but it would make me feel better tot hink that they get chastised regularly and often. :o)

Thanks all,

Todd

Hi Todd! Great to see you here! Your work on D&D3e helped establish a very distinct, dynamic look and feel for the game. I'm sure that any number of d20 companies will be clamoring for your services. Good luck (not that you need it)!

Greetings and welcome to EN World, Todd!

I must say, I'm surprised and yet not that WotC have decided to go this route and axe the art department. On one hand, it just seems silly, but yet on another, when one remembers the sweeping changes at WotC this past year, it almost seems inevitable. Either way, it is a darn* shame. :(

I wish you the best of luck in all of the ventures you partake and I dearly hope to see your art decorating many a d20 or other RPG product. In a very short time, you have become a staple of D&D art like Trampier, Elmore, Brom, and a host before you.

Let the battle for Mr. Lockwood's art begin!

:)

I just want to echo the previous two posts regarding your talents and the mark you have made with the look of 3rd edition.
Seems pretty scary when the art staff is cut for a company like Wizards.

I have no doubt that you will find steady freelance employment with your skills and talent.

Best of luck, and thanks for some truly amazing art,

hellbender

The good side is, Todd is now free to do character portraits over on the Artwork forum. :D

Hong "me first, dammit!" Ooi

Todd--you are a great artist and a great guy, I will do what you asked you have always been one of my favorite artists and having you do an interior for Bluffside was one of my true highlights of Thunderhead Games!!!!! I hope to be in touch! And bad WoTC...bad WoTC!!!!:(

Todd,

I was first introduced to your art with the pre-release of the PHB, and I thought it was amazing! It was one of the primary reasons I created my own art gallery, which eventually led to my working for the RPG industry!

As sad as I am to hear of WotC's decision, I am confident that the future holds bright promises not only for you, but also for the rest of WotC's former art staff.

Best wishes,

Here is the piece Todd did for us and we could not be happier!
