D&D 5E Sorcerer play...How do they feel vs. being a wizard?

Just wondering. I'm used to playing wizards but I decided to rework an old character as a sorcerer instead. It's been a while (4E killed my interest for a while), so I'm a bit rusty but when I look at the spell list for sorcerers and remind myself they only know X number of spells it bums me ever so slightly. Seriously though, folks---Do you miss anything by playing a 5e sorcerer?

My limited experience having a sorcerer in my party is that he has fun blowing stuff up. It's basically all he's good at but he really likes it.

You have fewer spells, but metamagic gives you more control in hacking the ones you have. If that appeals to you, sorcerer is a good way to go. If it doesn't trip your trigger, stick with wizard.

Also, Sorcerers get more cantrips. 1 more than Wizards and 2 more than Walocks. A sorcerer could can take 1 or 2 utility cantrips without affecting their firepower

But I haven't seen one in play and am also very interested in hearing about how they do

Understood. What I'm going to look into is perhaps creating a feat which allows limited casters such as sorcerers and rangers to know a few more spells--perhaps no more than 1/3 their caster level +1. And the spells chosen can be no greater than 4th level for sorcerers and 3rd level for others.
