Sorcerer using Psion's PPP, any problems?

Does anyone see a problem with giving Sorcerers the Psion's Power Point Progression? Would there be anything you would want to change?

Basically, the Sor keeps his spells known, spell list and everything else, just uses PPs to figureout spell costs.

How would you handle spells that scale upwards? Would a 10d6 Fireball cost more than a 5d6 one?
For: Yes, its more powerful.
Against: Nope, he's 10th level and deserves the power boost.
Alt_1: Make Scaling go away. You get what you get and no more.

Does anyone use a mechanic to let Psions' scale their powers that seems balanced?

Would you give the Sor new abilities? I suppose you could use the Metapsionic feat costs for their Metamagic counterparts.

I am doing this for pure "flavor" because I (and my players) want to, not 'cause the "Sor got the shaft" or anything.

The same arguments against auto-scaling for psions hold here. If you let a 10d6 fireball cost the same (5 pp) as a 5d6 one, there becomes little reason to use higher level spells/powers.

Heighten Spell. If you want to cast a 10d6 fireball, you pay 10pp instead of 5.

That's elegant and easy enough. Thank you. (I think I will make Heighten Spell a bonus feat though, since its so integral to what it means to be a Sor in my eyes (You poor your heart into the spell, but it tires you greatly)).

I assume then that you don't have a problem with giving Sor the Psion's PPP as is? Just lift the table directly?

If Thoughts Could Kill

has a BruceCordell's version of scaling dmg for psion powers. The PDF is stll only $5, I think the print version is also out.

Not only does it have that, but it has conversions of all of the PHB and Eldritch Might spells to psion powers. This is useful because the PHB spells do not necessarily scale up in a way that justifies the PP cost when you switch over - the damage of various spells in particular is made to progress more smoothly.

Thanks guys. I have been thinking of picking up ITCK for a while now anyway, so I guess I just better get it over with :) It seems to me that Power Points are a much more natural way of handling "inborn magical naturals" that Sorcerers are supposed to be.

Does anyone else think its odd that Sor are the only PHB Arcane spellcasting class where they try to say where the power comes from? Wizards and Bards don't get that treatment.

Do psionic powers that scale up cost more ie. 5d6 vs. 10d6 for a cuncussion power. If it costs more to scale up, then it should for sorcerors, but if it doesn't, then it wouldn't seem fair for one to be required to and for one to not.
