Sorcerer with Domain Access (Complete Champion) -- how does this work?

I think Arcane Disciple is ok, and Domain Access sucks. Sorcs are fairly limited in spells know as is. Lowering that by 1 per lvl, just to gain a single domain isn't worth it. If you could cast each of the domain spells more then once it might be worth it, but just once per day is too little of a benefit.

I think thats a little black and white!

If the Domain granted ability is good AND the spells on the Domain list are good (why else would you choose that Domain??) then it could be a very good trade-off.

Ususally though, with Domains, some of the spells are better than others but at least for character flavour you may just want access to that particular set of spells.

In which case, Arcane Disciple and Domain Access (for sorcerers) sound fairly balanced with one another in terms of costs and benefits.

Arcane Disciple: Benefits: Add domain spells to your class spell list, which you can presumably cast as often as you could cast any other spell you know. Costs: One feat; domain spell access governed by a different stat from your primary casting stat (Wisdom vs. Charisma).

Domain Access: Benefits: Allows you to cast one domain spell of each level once per day. Costs: You know one fewer spell of each level you're able to cast.

So, you trade one spell you can use an unlimited number of times for one you can use only once? And it possibly replaces your only spell known for the level?

Yuck.

Yeah, that is what bothers me about the feat. I just turned 10th, and I get a new 5th level spell. Instead of teleport, or Arcane Fusion, If I get a dead level in my domain, I can only cast it once per day. It seems pretty iffy to me. Interesting from a flavor perspective, though.

For a truly odd sorceror, take it 5-6 times (I know you cannot) and get a vast array of spells you could only cst each once epr day. REally make casting spells a mind bender.

For the CC variant, I haven't seen it, however... CM has the Stalwart Sorcerer (correct name??) class feature variant, which reduces your known spells of your highest level by 1. So, it's sorta like this one, except, it's only for one spell level, and the level keeps changing as you level (giving you back the spell known of the previous "high" level). The thing is, that feature doesn't kick in until the odd levels, when you're about to gain your second spell known for your highest level, so there's no awkwardness of having acess to a spell level with none known. I would HR this feature variant to work the same, cause having no sorc spells known at level 6 really does suck.
