Southern California GenCon? Definite maybe!

Why would a con in southern California be called "Midwest"? Isn't Indy in the "Midwest"? I'd call it something else. But, as I live in the Keystone State, I have no inclinations in either direction for a con in CA.

w00+!! GENCON plus In-N-Out double-doubles and the best pizza place on two coasts! I hope this happens sooner rather than later.

Um... read it again, eh?

I sent an email when Morrus first posted this on the front page.

I was told they had got a positive response so far, and were just thinking about where. They mentioned the fact WotC was in Washington.

N. Cal would be better for me, but the 6 hour drive (and relatives to crash with) to LA would make So Cal a nice option too.

My ego would like to think it was my passionate email extolling the virtues of a San Diego venue that swayed them. Anyone who's ever been to the San Diego ComicCon knows what I'm talking about. SD is THE place to have a Con. Woot! Can't wait. :)

Yes, Yes, I have to whole haeartedly agree--San Diego has just expanded their convention center and it's perfect! The Hyatt is nearby to allow for even more gaming space. In addition, Warlords, the local RPGA club is one of the best groups around--very good guys and gals.

You can't argue with Comic-con... This last year was the biggest one ever--their dealer room was absolutely huge! Plus ya got beaches and babes and boys (this is southern California remember) within walking distance. The airport is less than a mile from the heart of downtown (no kidding) and the Gaslamp district (THE pub party place in San Diego) is a block away.

Yep. San Diego would be a blast... but I guess I'm a bit biased...

I'm going to agree here re San Diego. Then again, I live only a block from the Gaslamp, and rather close to a movie theatre, Borders bookstore, and the Horton Plaza shopping center.

But, there is a downside. GCSC would have to work things out with the San Diego Comic Con re timing. Comicon is theconvention is San Diego. You don't schedule things opposite the Comicon.

BTW, the San Diego Comic Con is the week end before Gen Con in 2003.
