Southern California GenCon? Definite maybe!

If they keep the one in the Midwest a quality convention with just as much as it has had before if not more then I wish them well. If not then I think it would be a terrible thing.

Also they would have to come up with another name for it as well. GenCon has it's roots in the Midwest and should stay there. Change is fine and expected, but somethings are better left alone.

totaly agree with you guys. I just hope the big names in the gamindutry can make to san diego and come with the same enthusiasim (sp?) that they go to the gen con with.

Now if they do come, what will the name be? How bout the cake mage con? :D

Living on the East Coast I would not go but I do think it is a wonderful idea.

I would wonder about how big of a radius it would draw from but I think gaming population of the area could support it.

For something as large as GCSC could get, the only three places are Anaheim, Los Angeles, and San Diego. Anaheim and LA have the advantage in population base, but fall behind where traffic is concerned. Over all access is better in San Diego, but on the average prices are higher.

On the other hand, by the year 2020 the San Diego Convention Center should be large enough to hold the world's first indoor marathon.

My ego would like to think it was my passionate email extolling the virtues of a San Diego venue that swayed them. Anyone who's ever been to the San Diego ComicCon knows what I'm talking about. SD is THE place to have a Con. Woot! Can't wait. :)

BTW, if you look north of the convention center and a bit east of the two black towers, you can sort of make out Where Mythusmage Gets to Live. Even further east and north is a lone black tower. This is locally known as "Darth Vader". Originally owned by a now defunct bank, it's changed hands a couple of times since.

OK, so that's what "So Cal" means... I've been trying to figure it out all morning! My thoughts were going along the lines of "So Cal....Low Cal... Low Calorie... some kind of dietary drink?" :D

Of course, I'm just an ignorant bloke from Hants...

I sure wouldn't go to the midwest in August for a con. I would go to So Cal anytime of the year. Its only a 5.5 hour drive for me.

A SoCal winter GenCon would be even better (except for the prices). San Diego is awesome all year 'round, and LA/Anaheim are nice in the winter, too.

If the con was in winter you'd surely see many more pros, 'cause who doesn't want to escape bad winter for a week or so?
