Sovereign Press to produce Dragonlance

I probably won't run DL; For me, it's always been more of a setting for the novels, rather than for a campaign. But I'm glad the right people are doing it. I'll probably buy the first book just because I like reading about Krynn, and for nostalgia.

The DL campaign does feature many interesting goodies - even if you don't use the campaign setting, though. The lunar cycles of magic, draconians, Dragon Orbs and the Solamnic Knights and Knights of Takhisis (all of which can be ported easily to other game worlds)...

And this will likely mark the first d20 product I actually buy for myself.

While I don't care for the setting beyond the Legends, I am glad it's being ressurected for the fans, especially after seeing who runs Sovereign. Hope it does well.

Considering it's Sovereign Press; it'll be interesting to see if they tamper with the magic system or not.

Dragonlance has never actually had a setting book for DnD.

Personally I find the novels so heavy on the world shaking end that I'm not sure how gamable the world is; but it will be interesting to see what they come up with.

If Dark Sun comes out, that's another setting.

Ravenloft is already out.

That does leave quite a few though.

Mystara (I think Kenzer has the rights to that right?)

Spelljammer (Getting d20 in Polyhedron soon.)

Planescape (Any takers?)

Al-Qadim/Kara-Tur/Horde/Maztica (FR specific so probably not going to happen although with the first it could probably be seperated enough)

What setting are you talking about and who should release it?

I personally think that this is perhaps the strongest showing of strength for the d20 system. I don't like Dragonlance but I love the fact that it can be supported without taking away from other settings in terms of time, resources, writers, and all the other things that go into making a product. I know that time and time again TSR would tout that they could only do the settings that supported themselves.

Of course, I'd love to see someone do a Greyhawk book....

First of all: Tsyr, I think he meant 3E, using the proper term for the game (D&D).

Second of all, arcady, if it is a true d20 license, they CAN'T monkey with the basics of the magic system, as I understand it; if it were solely OGL, they could unravel and re-weave it to their Hearts content.

And now, will someone close to Sovereign Press PLEEEESE tell me if Tracy Hickman is going to be contributing in any way? Pls. Pls Pls??? When Margaret and Tracy work together, they kick Gaming butt! Alas, I haven't seen them work on a joint project for years now!

This is great news! I'm confident that they'll get it right, too.

In the past though, information on all the different regions of Ansalon have been pretty sketchy to say the least. If they follow the Forgotten Realms Campaign Supplement format though in geographic detail, that would be fantastic. Each region deserves more than the bare half-page to adequately describe it as has occurred in previous sourcebooks.

Hopefully they'll not include any of that 5th Age junk either.

I agree with the sentiment expressed previously about Larry Elmore - we can only hope. With their close relationship with him from Sovereign Stone, the chances are pretty good at least.
