Sovereign Stone / Weis & Hickman

TeeSeeJay

First Post
Am i the only one that would have rather seen Weis & Hickman develop the "Death Gate" worlds as a campaign setting instead of the Sovereign Stone? (edit: Actually, "in addition to" is a much better way to phrase it)

I think DG would have made a very interesting setting, especially with the magic systems -- casting via dancing, and tattoo magic.

IIRC, Sovereign Press, the publisher of Sovereign Stone RPG, is owned and operated by the husband-and-wife team of Don Perrin and Margaret Weis. Both are former TSR employees. ;)

Now, do you still want some other company publish a Death Gate RPG? :p

REG, you misunderstood what TeeSeeJay meant. Go back and read his post again.

What he meant was that he wishes that Sovereign Stone Press had published a Death Gate Cycle campaign, instead of (or in addition to) the Sovereign Stone campaign. He isn't saying he wants some other company to make it.

Oh. My bad. :(

I still don't understand why they should do one or the other? Why not do both? Or let Tracy Hickman form a RPG company and publish a Death Gate RPG?

Hell, I want them to publish the Darksword Adventures d20 RPG.

I like Sovereign Stone. A lot. :p So no.

While it doesn't seem a huge hit, they do have a decent fan base for it. The mailing list has almost 300 people.

And Sovereign Stone has ork babes. I would bet Death Gate doesn't.

But in addition to would be good. However, with their getting Dragonlance, it seems like they've put Sov. Stone on the back burner somewhat.

And that's a shame, because IMHO Sovereign Stone is far better than Dragonlance. YMMV, of course...

I agree

I agree, Sov Stone is much better than Dragonlance. There is so much left unexplored in Sov Stone, and the whole idea of the Dominion Lords and the Baak are just so darn interesting.

I just finished reading the first two novels a couple weeks ago and they are truly amazing.I was wondering if any one could comment on the Rpg core rulebook for the sovereign stone. Is it a well done book?

Isn't Sovereign Stone a world Elmore created? I thought it was, at least I recall reading some thing along those lines when the 1st novel came out. I guess I should go find that novel and read it again. Or maybe I don't know what I am talking about. :) Since I havn't read that book in awhile and I never started the second novel yet.

If you are refering to the D20 one, yes, very. I'm told the original version had a lot of editing errors, but I've never read it.
