Soverign Stone 3.5?

Andy Hopp's work in the Soverign Stone monster book didn't strike everyone, but he's done a lot of stuff for Goodman game's the wander's Guild books and many people seem to enjoy it there.

I think it, like sometimes other artists works, didn't match the style set in the original book.

So I just loked in the old Setting book and while most of the book has art from other artists (and not bad at that) there are Elmore pieces in it. Most of those Elmore pics are smaller than the same art in the new book. For instance the full page pic on 27 in the new book took about 1/6 of page 25 in the old book. And it looks like the new ones were scans of those pics then blown up. Also, anything that wasn't using Elmore art in the old book doesn't have a pic in the new one. Want some pics of the creatures? Nope.

I also see large swaths of text that are almost word for word lifted from the older version. Strange since it is published from another company.

One place in the old version starts out:
Males usually stand about seven feet tall, while females stand around six-and-one-half-feet in height.

New version:
Males usually stand about 7 feet tall, while females stand around 6-1/2 feet in height.

The rest of the paragraph is word for word.

I have yet to see something that jumps out to me as having been changed in the way of mechanics.

So far, looking like a three due to the missing bits on the level tables, the editing errors, the suffering of the art, and the lack of illustrations in the monster section, as well as lack of cities. I'd probably kick it up one if the illustrations weren't grayed out in spots showing that the import was done poorly or if the color illustrations didn't suffer with the pixilation effect.

Some interesting concepts, but I don't see a lot that strikes me as different for the 3.5 version. Then again, I generally only borrowed some of the core class elements, like the archer, from this book as opposed to using it whole cloth.
