Why do Flaming Arrows cost 100 gp when Explosive Arrows cost 80 gp, do more damage, and don't need a bonus action to light. The only advantage I can see for Flaming Arrows is that they are compatible with Expertise Dice. It seems to me that Explosive Arrows should cost more than Flaming Arrows,

I think the flaming arrows are more tactically versatile. Explosive arrows can't do anything except inflict thunder damage and make a loud noise, but fire arrows can illuminate a distant part of a cavern, or be fired into the air as a flare, or set fire to a building or vehicle.
 

So in terms of bang for your buck....serpent venom poison is a really good damage adder. You get 3 arrows with it (so 25 GP a pop, same as flaming arrows)....it does 3d6 damage with a save for half, meaning even with the half your still on average doing more bonus damage than the flaming arrow....and you take no ranged penalty.

Obviously poisons have their own issues, but it seems a very viable alternative.
