Well, 1 in 10 pixies (1HD) can use irresistable dance as an SLA as GrayLinnorm points out. And about that many grigs carry a fiddle that can induce irresistable dance on multiple targets for as long as it plays, though with an easy save DC. That's at 1/2 HD and CR 1! So there would be precedent. So given that the dancing song of the original text for the veeru is something like bardic music (as long as it sings), just like the grig fiddle, why don't we make it an Su and lift from the fiddle? That would keep the flavor but cut the DC and make it more reasonable. Certainly no worse than a cockatrice, I'd think.

Here's the grig fiddle:

SRD said:
Fiddle (Su): One grig in each band carries a tiny, grig-sized fiddle. When the fiddler plays, any nonsprite within 30 feet of the instrument must succeed on a DC 12 Will save or be affected as though by irresistible dance for as long as the playing continues. The save DC is Charisma-based.

If we go with this, we can probably drop the bardic music, don't you think?

Do we need to think about some disguise or blur type ability next?

I was assuming we were going to make it a supernatural attack rather than a SLA, and agree we can drop the bardic music.

Something like:
Dancing Song (Su): Once a day a verru can sing a chiming tune that causes all creatures within 30 feet to dance uncontrollably, as though by the irresistible dance spell, if they fail at a DC X Will save. A veeru can sing a dancing song for up to 3 rounds, but must halt its song if it is hit in combat or otherwise distracted. Affected victims will continue dancing for 1d4+1 rounds after the veeru stops singing. Dancing Song is a sonic, mind-affecting compulsion and can be neutralized by a bard's countersong ability. The save DC is Charisma-based.
I added the mind-affecting bit just for clarity, otherwise people might be saying it can make zombies and golems dance!

How about we just simplify it to "must maintain concentration", which will have the built-in effects of distraction due to damage? Like so?
