Hi Michael, I have a question about the "Anti-Script" you mentioned here:
and
You also mentioned that community supporters will be able to close out the advert areas on a area by area case basis.
As a Community Supporter, I applaud that. Also, I have no problem with the sidebar ad, the compression doesn't bother me.
However, I do take my computer's security VERY seriously. As such, the vast majority of advertising sites, known malware sites, and a large selection of low security/highly targeted sites are blocked from loading to my machines by 1) My Router, and 2) my Hosts files. Additionally, I do not allow cookies to be retained beyond the current session, so I always login to the websites I visit fresh.
As such, I am curious if these broad spectrum blocks (which are not software ad-blocker programs or browser based script plugins) will trigger your "Anti-Script", and prevent my browser from showing EN2, and thus prevent me from logging in, and thus prevent personal preferences from being applied?
As the IT manager for my company, one too many computers in need of a full reformat to be functional thanks to excesses of malware through "advertising", despite up-to-date Anti-Virus and Anti-Spyware software, have taught me the value of extraordinary preventative security, both for my workplace and home. I'm naturally interested in how incompatible my security preferences are with the future design of one of my most frequented hobby sites.
Thanks for your time, and all you do here.
Michael Morris said:Fair warning - use NoScript with EN2 and all you'll see is a black page with nothing on it. Similarly using an ad blocking program to interfere with ad displays will cause the page to refuse to display.
