Katerina stepped forward, her sword and pistol readied in her hands, having expected a fight. In one quick motion she took one step forward and attacked the nearest creature; she fired her pistol carefully then sword glinting in the pale light, slashed at the creature hoping to damage it enough it to kill it.
OOC:
It wasn't clear if there was a bardic inspiration or not for Kat... She's doing a 5 foot step and a full round action.
Attacking Grick #2, was hoping to drop it but just shy. Grrrr.
Sorry to ask again, but since it is now remaining gricks turn and Grick #2 just has 2 HP left, we need to clarify :
1) Pathfinderq1, did you hit Grick #2 or #3 ?
2) Do you remember having granting inspiration to Kat before your forced bath in the sea (before the server crashed) ? Flynn is a college of valor bard, so he can grant a +1d6 damage to the inspiree...
I wanted to clarify some things. First peterka99, Pathfinderq1 already declared grick #3 his target. It's right there in his post.
Second Queenie, I am assuming Katerina is shooting first then advancing and attacking with her cutlass, because in 5e: (a) everyone can split up movement and attacking as they want, and (b) attacking with a ranged weapon next to a monster imposes disadvantage on your attack roll.
Flynn’s repeated pistol-fire leaves his thumb blackened and sends bluish-black ichor splattering against the far cavern wall. The final straw for the grick struggling in the tangled web of kelp. At last it bursts free and clambors over the detritus of the rubbled stone towards the nearest warm flesh - Etienne. Its tentacles rake hungrily across the Frenchman’s legs (8 slashing damage), as if trying to suction his body whole into its too small beak (another 4 piercing damage).
The smaller one that had been tugging on Etienne’s legs, like a baby bird after a worm in its mother’s mouth, wails as Katerina shoots and slashes into its carapace. No fish market could smell worse than the smell of its ichor spilling underfoot. Distracted from the prone Etienne by Katerina’s onslaught, it lunges at her, but the captain easily bats away its tentacles with her swordplay.
I'm out of town for 3 days. Etienne will wait... maybe he'll get healed, then he will disengage and crawl to the cave entrance.... Otherwise i'll roll a death save later...
