Spell to "Hide" your alignment...

Having a brain fart atm... Is there a spell that hides ones alignment (from detect spells and such)? I'm sure there is... What is the name of it? And is it on the Assassin's spell list? And do you know the duration of the spell?

Thanks!

Undetectable alignment, 2nd level assassin spell.

Lasts 24 hours.

Awesome. That is exactly what I was looking for. Is this spell in the Core? Or is it in a splat book? I looked in the SRD and didn't see it, but I could have simply overlooked it.

Really? It's in the 3.5 SRD:

I don't see it stating that it is an Assassin spell... I guess I need to check the DMG for that?

You might prefer misdirection instead of making your alignment undetectable which in itself should raise alarms it gives a false read. You target something else or someone else and all detect spells read as if there targeting that. So you cast it on a tree and hey you detect as alive, neutral, and with no magic.

Since all the detection spells are only positive indicators, undetectable alignment should never cause alarm. Keep in mind, the spells just say "number of <alignment> auras" - non-<alignment> people don't show up at all. Detect Evil would show the same for you, your cat, and the Neutral Good druid next to you - it would show nothing. It only shows something when it detects evil. Detect Good on the same group would show first the presence of good, then that there's one good aura, then that it's right *there* and how strong it is.

In fact, you'll note that misdirection has a chance of not working. Undetectable alignment doesn't. On the other hand, misdirection is somewhat more powerful. Smart characters in the D&D world know that evil people attempting to be sneaky can easily disguise their alignments. Therefore, if they're suspicious enough to use detect evil, they're often suspicious enough to use Detect Magic. And the only other low-level, long duration abjuration spells are Endure Elements, Protection From Arrows, and Shield Other. All of those spells would only be expected upon certain kinds of people at certain times (on an ordinary spring day, there's little call for protection from elements) so a character with Undetectable Alignment up is not likely to get by a character who has any reason to be suspicious or cautious of him in particular. If it's simply a cleric at the gate of the city, looking for evil auras or a paladin who takes a quick look at the bar to see if he notes any unusually strong evil auras (faint auras being so common as to generally not be worth investigating) then Undetectable Alignment will work. However, it won't stand up to more serious scrutiny.
