My group really tries to keep balance by keeping to the gp limits for characters of their level. (Chart in DMG somewhere) My friend is playing a wizard and he has almost no magic items because all of his gp has gone to putting spells into the spellbook.
But when I look at the sample characters in the module I am dming (Lord of the Iron Fortress) I notice that Mailee has a bunch of magic items and they add up to about her gp limit. Her spellbook isn't taken into account at all.
Are wizards supposed to count their spellbook vs. the gp limit of their character level? Any 'official' rulings on this?
