Spellcaster vs Steel

One thing that I am curious about is whether the new combat rules will provide a greater melee divide. One thing that I disliked about 3E PF and 4E is the ability of a wizard to function in close combat.

I always found the concept that a wizard could stand toe-toe with a heavily armed opponent felt -- wrong. I saw it as a balancing factor in older editions -- the mage stayed out of close combat.

The other party members protected the spellcasters because all it took was one good hit and the spellcaster couldn't cast and was quickly grist for the mill.
