Well, one of the disadvantages would be that people have an interest in dissecting you like a lab animal. That's sort of irritating, and you only have one shot of this.
For amusement, try to get the character's own partymembers to hand him over for dissection. If you can get the hapless player to cower in fear of his own partymembers, even better.
Remember: Anytime you can get the players kill each other, is a time when you, as the DM, don't have to burn a prepared adventure on them. The disadvantage being that once the players realize you encourage this sort of thing, they're going to stop doing it really fast.
