Spider-Man Teaser

I can't remember where I encountered it but I was positive that the original Spiderman was a geeky science student who engineered the spider that bit him;
Nope. The original origin was pretty much just like what was in the first Spider-Man movie - although the spider was radioactive, not genetically engineered, and Peter was the only one of his classmates there.

Was it the TV series that had the spider in a lab? Maybe I confused that with the spidey comics I used to read as a kid.

It was originally random. But by the look of this trailer, Peter will be at the lab visiting Gwen Stacy (and the lab belongs to Dr. Connors).

Yep, and I'm ecstatic about that. Since they first announced that Connors was going to be in the reboot, I've been hoping that they'd link his experiments with the spider in question. Just made too much dramatic sense not to.

In the cartoon Spectacular Spiderman (2008-2009 on CW/KidsWB) they had the same thing: Dr. Connors experiment was indeed linked to Spidey's transformation.. and Gwen was working there, and so on...

Also, they seem to be ramping up the importance of Peter's parents.

And maybe using some of the back story on them from the '90s.
